Valerie Strauss has shared an important essay by Math for America's John Ewing.
Check it out in her Answer Sheet blog .
Perhaps the most critical problem with the uses of test scores in various VAM models is that because they produce "mathmatical" answers people are conned into believing them -- "after all," they say, "numbers don't lie."
Ewing's essay is long for an item on the web but it is a well reasoned discussion of the topic.
